Dear Franklin Community,
We are so excited to bring back Color Day this year and cannot wait to see the entire Franklin School community on the field together once again! Color Day will be held on Wednesday, May 31, and we look forward to seeing all your students enjoying fun and games with their classmates. Teachers will assign students their team color in the coming weeks and each Color Day station will be managed by volunteers, who are key to the success of the day! If you are able to volunteer, please sign up at https://signup.com/go/Rwnkdbs
Students will be participating in a “Fun Run" station again this year, where they will run laps around the Franklin fields for charity. Students will seek sponsors to pledge a predetermined amount of money for each lap that they complete, and student laps will be recorded by volunteers (please note that most kids will be able to run approximately 3-5 laps during this time). Please see the fundraising pledge form attached! A printed copy of this pledge form will be going out in student folders this week! After Color Day, this money will be collected and donated to FamilyAid Boston, an organization selected by the Franklin Social Action Committee & the 5th grade student council. For more than 100 years, FamilyAid Boston has been helping parents and their children to prevent homelessness. FamilyAid works with families to give them shelter and housing to make sure children always have a safe place to live, grow, and learn. More information can be found at https://familyaidboston.org/
Our goal for this year is to collectively raise $3,500 as a school community for FamilyAid Boston. We know this sounds like a lot of money, but we are confident the students can reach this goal! All students from the class with the highest average raised will be entered into a raffle, and the winner of the raffle will get to hit Principal Chitty in the face with a pie at the end of the school year!
All pledge sheets and donations are due by Wednesday, June 7th. Please remember to make sure your checks and online donations include your students name, grade and teacher – a chance to throw the pie is at stake!

Thank you in advance, for supporting your child(ren) and Franklin Elementary School in our community efforts. Please reach out with any questions and we look forward to seeing many of you on Wednesday, May 31st!
