Hello Franklin Families,
The Franklin PTO Social Action Committee is planning a full year of service events and other activities to raise awareness about community resources and needs, and to support our neighbors within and beyond Newton. First up is a fall volunteer day at Cradles to Crayons, whose mission is "to provide children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play." The volunteer day last year was a great success, and we are really excited to have another opportunity for our community to do a group service event together! The Franklin volunteer day will be on Wednesday September 21st from 1-3pm at the Cradles to Crayons Giving Factory at 281 Newtonville Avenue, Newton MA 02460. We will have space for 40 volunteers (minimum age for children is 5) and each child must be accompanied by an adult. Sign up here by September 14th if you and your child(ren) would like to participate: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805054EAFAB2FA0FD0-franklin1 Please select Quantity to include the total number of people in your party (adults + children). Sign up under the adult's name and put the children's names in the comment. We'll provide details to those signed up and in the meantime feel free to reach out to Ranjani (ranjani.krishnan10@gmail.com) with any questions! p.s. We hope that many of you will be able to participate in this event, but we know that Wednesday afternoon won't work for everyone. We're hoping to do another volunteer day in the spring on a Saturday for those who can't do this one. -- Ranjani Paradise and Jackie Savage-Borne Franklin Social Action Committee co-chairs
