January 10, 2022
Dear Franklin Families,
I hope that all of you found moments of rest and enjoyment this weekend. In my family, we enjoyed lots of hot chocolate and returned to our favorite sledding hills. Winter is in full swing now with snow on the ground and bitter temperatures forecast for this coming week. Please make sure that your children come to school appropriately dressed for the season as we will head outside for recess on all but the coldest days.
The timing of the snow day was wonderful in the middle of this Covid surge and resulting absences for students and staff. We all hope that this dilemma will pass soon so that we can maintain our full focus on academic and social-emotional learning as we launch the second half of the school year. We are a couple of weeks away from Day 90, the school year’s mid-point, and teachers are working hard to prepare Progress Reports, which will be available online for families on Thursday, February 3rd.
On Thursday, January 20th, School Psychologist Dr. Toni Kelly will join us at our evening PTO meeting. We will talk about our team’s professional learning about a Culturally Responsive Approach to Trauma and other facets of Social-Emotional Learning and Support at Franklin School. We hope you can be with us on Zoom that evening!
With Best Wishes,
Mark Chitty
