The 2020-2021 PTO Dues Campaign is still going on!
We know that it is an unusual year, but the PTO intends to fund the programs we commit to each year. We need your help to do that!
Where does your money go?
Some highlights:
Creative Arts and Sciences Programs, our biggest expense, will resume after the first of the year. We are collaborating with the other elementary schools to ensure relevant, diverse experiences that will (virtually) bring together Franklin students that participate in hybrid learning and distance learning.
Our social worker has requested help for Franklin families in need. This is something we provide each year, however the number of families needing our assistance now is more than double the need from just two years ago.
We provided in-person teachers with a discretionary check to help purchase items for their classrooms to enrich the curriculum and have extended our mini-grant program to include not only Franklin DLA and hybrid staff but also DLA Franklin staff that are teaching students from other home schools and non-Franklin DLA teachers that are teaching Franklin based students.
Where does the money come from?
Our two biggest fundraisers are the dues campaign and the annual auction. Our Auction Committee is working hard this winter to be able to offer an online auction in the spring. As you can imagine, companies have been hard hit since March and donations are difficult to come by.
We have also had a successful Halloween Costume Bash, Trivia Night, and Flocking event, and are almost done with a fall catalog sale. In a typical year, we’d be able to host other events such as mystery dinners, fall and spring picnics, and a book fair. A lot is happening behind the scenes to modify these traditions, but our Dues Campaign may be what will carry our programs through this uncertain time.
