Dear Franklin Families,
We hope you're keeping warm in this cold weather, and most of all, staying safe & healthy. We would like to share a brief update from the PTO board on our first half of the school year, along with a list of events to look forward to in the second half of the year!
The PTO helped build community in this year through our Halloween Bash, Parent Coffee Social, Family Picnic, Franklin Family Day at Franklin Park with FORJ, Directory Cover Artwork Contest, Teacher Appreciation Days, Franklin SEPAC Welcome Coffee, Virtual Book Fair, Decorated Feather Collection for our Franklin Turkey, Virtual Trivia Night, Principal Coffees, and PTO Meetings. Our Social Action Committee coordinated collections of food for the Centre Street Food Pantry and the City Wide Food Drive, along with over 250 coats for Coats For Kids, and gifts for the Holiday Gift Drive with Village Bank. We also partnered with Blue Ribbon BBQ and Ward 4 Restaurant for our "Dining for Dollars" fundraisers, and we had fundraisers for Franklin Spirit Wear, Cookie Dough, and IvyMath. All of these efforts so far have raised $11,146 for the PTO!
We also collected $14,718 in dues during the 2021-2022 school year. WOW!! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed! If you haven't paid your dues yet and would like to, please contribute online here. With dues and fundraising combined, we have raised $25,864 so far this year!
For some spending highlights so far this year, the PTO has spent $4,230 in Creative Arts & Sciences Programs, $4,000 towards teacher discretionary checks that help them buy the supplies that they need for the classroom, and $3,102 in grants to Franklin teachers ($6,000 awarded in November) for important resources such as books for the classroom, flexible seating, and new hockey goals for the gym. In addition, $1,823 went to staff appreciation events and $1,800 towards gift cards for Franklin families in need. We were able to support these grants and programs thanks to your participation in Dues and in PTO fundraising events. THANK YOU!
