Hello Franklin!
We are so excited to announce the winners of our first ever Franklin Halloween Art Contest! They are Sloane Buckley (Kindergarten), Emily Xi (1st grade), Charlotte Civetti (2nd grade), Charlie Conlon (3rd grade), Karina Oo (4th grade), and Melina Petropulos (5th grade)! Principal Jocelyn spent time looking at all of the submissions with his family and his choices for each grade are below along with his thoughts!
Kindergarten Winner - Sloane Buckley: I chose this one because it showed creativity, specifically an ability to be resourceful when there may be a lack of art supplies. This piece also depicts a ghost in a unique and peculiar pose. First Grade Winner - Emily Xi: This art piece presented me with something new and exciting. The pumpkin is folding in a way that shows more of its composition. Not only is it something new, but it also is of quality. Second Grade Winner - Charlotte Civetti: This art piece is full of details that add to its overall quality. Third Grade Winner - Charlie Conlon: I chose this artwork because I loved the composition. The colors worked together to create something that caught my attention. Fourth Grade Winner - Karina Oo: Something about this art piece invoked a feeling of creepiness, which is the general spirit of Halloween. This art piece also features a non-traditional representation of Halloween. Fifth Grade Winner - Melina Petropulos: This is a very high-quality piece which uses the moonlight portrayed in the painting to show the small details. We will be displaying the six pieces of artwork in front of the school next to the bulletin board within the next few days, and it will stay for a week! Also, we will be delivering prizes to homes this week. They will get a fun set of assorted color fineliners and a mini sketch pad!
